LEGACY IN STONE: RESTORING NEW YORK STATE’S CAPITOL (a WMHT production / Host, Co-Producer, Co-Writer: John Campbell)

A unique documentary that takes viewers behind the scenes of one of America’s most ambitious historic preservation efforts — the restoration of New York State’s iconic Capitol building.

Through extraordinary access to artisans, historians, architects, and restoration teams (working on the roof), the film reveals the craftsmanship, dedication, and decades-long effort required to preserve a national landmark.

Blending history with compelling visual storytelling, the documentary uncovers the remarkable journey of restoring not just a building, but an enduring symbol of New York’s heritage and identity. Interviews with then New York State Governor George Pataki (on the roof, of course).
